Last Zombie Standing: Episode 10
A zombie eat zombie world
Synopsis: This story is about a zombie apocalypse from the viewpoint of Larry the zombie, and it focuses on Larry’s moral dilemma with being a zombie.
Scene 4
The moon was shining bright, illuminating the three rivers of Pittsburgh. It was a quiet night, but Larry’s group of zombies made their way to the riverside. Larry looked at the barges his group had managed to put together. They were made out of old, rotted wood and were barely held together with some twine and wire.
The zombies began to load the barges with their weight. Some of them fell through the rotted wood, causing Larry to curse under his breath. Finally, they were all loaded and ready to go. They pushed the barges out into the water and started paddling. They were making good time, but soon the poor quality of the barges became evident.
As they reached the middle of the river, five of the barges began to take on water. The zombies panicked, causing the boats to tip over, spilling them into the water. Larry watched as some of his comrades sank into the water, unable to swim.
“Damn it,” Larry muttered.
The other four barges made it halfway across when they were spotted by the human survivors. They quickly opened fire, blowing the boats to bits. The zombies on board struggled to stay afloat, but most of them drowned. Larry’s barge was the only one that made it across.
As he crawled ashore, he realized that he was alone. The rest of his group was dead, drowned in the river or blown to bits by the humans.
“This is not how it was supposed to go,” Larry muttered to himself.
He looked around at the empty streets and the fortified walls of the city. “I’m not giving up yet,” he said.
Scene 5
As the night sky loomed over the city of Pittsburgh, Larry crept through the darkness towards the fortified city walls. The sound of gunfire echoed in the distance, but Larry was unfazed. He knew they had the element of surprise on his side. He ran into a few more who had made it off of the boats.
As they approached the wall, Larry signaled for his group to stop. They huddled together, discussing their next move.
“We need to take out those gunners,” Larry whispered, pointing to the watchtowers along the wall. “Once we do that, we can start moving in.”
“But how do we get up there?” Jennifer, one of the zombies, asked.
Larry smiled. “We climb. We’re zombies, remember? We don’t get tired, we don’t get sore. We can climb up that wall no problem.”
The group nodded in agreement, and they set to work. It took some time, but they managed to scale the wall undetected, taking out the gunners one by one.
As they moved deeper into the city, Larry and Jennifer hung back, having a conversation.
“You know, Jennifer, I’ve been thinking. What happens when we take over completely? What do we do then?”
Jennifer looked at him, her eyes vacant. “I don’t know. We eat, we survive.”
Larry shook his head. “No, I mean, what’s our purpose? We’ll have no one left to fight, no humans to hunt. What do we do then?”
Jennifer shrugged. “I don’t know. Maybe we just…exist?”
Larry sighed. “That’s not enough for me. I want more than just existing. I want a purpose.”
Jennifer looked at him sympathetically. “I understand. But right now, our purpose is to take over this city.”
Larry nodded, and they continued their trek through the streets.
As they turned a corner, they found themselves face to face with a group of survivors. The humans had heard the commotion and were waiting for them.
Larry and his group charged forward, ready to attack. But the humans were prepared, and a fierce battle broke out.
Despite their best efforts, the zombies were no match for the well-armed humans. One by one, they fell, until only Larry was left standing.
He retreated back to the edge of the city, where he collapsed, exhausted and defeated.
As he lay there, staring up at the stars, he couldn’t help but wonder about his purpose, and whether he would ever find it.
Scene 6
A tired Larry was able to sneak into the city and find the command center. He overhears the commander talking on the radio with another stronghold in Detroit as they are being overrun by zombies. Larry listens intently, waiting for any valuable information to emerge.
The commander’s voice crackles through the radio. “This is Commander Mitchell in Detroit. We’re being overrun. Repeat, we’re being overrun. We need immediate assistance.”
The voice on the other end responds urgently. “I’m sorry, Commander, we’re dealing with our own zombie problem.”
“What do you mean?” Commander Mitchell demands.
“The zombies are attacking from all sides. We’re doing everything we can to hold them off, but we’re running out of ammunition and our defenses are failing.”
Larry can feel the tension in the air as the radio crackles with static.
“What’s happening in Detroit?” The commander asks.
“We’re holding strong,” the voice on the other end responds. “But we don’t know how long we can hold out. We’re the last stronghold of humanity in the region. If we fall, it’s all over.”
Suddenly, the radio cuts out, leaving the room in silence. The commander realizes that Detroit has fallen and that they’re truly on their own now. He wonders how long they can hold on, and if there’s any way they can turn the tide against the zombies.
Larry slinks back into the shadows, his mind racing with thoughts of the impending doom of humanity.
