Act II

Scene 1

The moon was high in the sky, casting a pale light on the riverbank. The zombies huddled together, their eyes glowing in the dim light. Larry, the leader of the group, was in the center of the huddle, deep in thought.

“How are we going to cross the river?” he said, looking up at the others. “We need to be careful, there could be humans watching us.”

Martha, one of the zombies, raised her hand. “We could use the planks from the old bridge to make a new one,” she suggested.

The other zombies nodded in agreement. “Yes, that could work,” Larry said. “But we need to be quick. The longer we stay in one place, the more likely we are to be seen.”

The zombies quickly set to work, tearing down what remained of the old bridge and using the planks to make a new one. They worked together, using their strength to lift the heavy planks into place.

Jay, another zombie, was looking out towards the river. “I see a boat,” he said. “We could use that to cross.”

Larry shook his head. “No, it’s too risky.”

The zombies continued to work, and as the new bridge took shape, they became more and more excited. They were so close to their goal, and they could almost taste the human flesh on the other side.

But Larry couldn’t help but feel a twinge of guilt. He knew what they were doing was wrong, but he couldn’t stop the hunger that burned inside him. As they finished the bridge, Larry turned to Martha. Their eyes met briefly.

Scene 2

Larry’s heart was pounding in his chest as they approached the river. He could see the murky water churning beneath them, and he couldn’t help but feel a sense of foreboding. The other zombies around him were talking excitedly about the prospect of finding new prey, but Larry couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong.

As they waded into the water, Larry felt a chill run down his spine. He tried to keep his head down, to avoid being spotted by any humans who might be watching from the other side. But his mind was racing, filled with memories of his life before he turned.

He thought about his family, and the people he used to work with. He wondered if any of them were still alive, and if they were safe. He felt a pang of guilt at the thought of what he had become, and the harm he had caused.

The other zombies around him were oblivious to his inner turmoil, focused only on reaching the other side. Larry could see the lights of the city twinkling in the distance, and he knew that they were getting closer.

But then, just as they were nearing the shore, a light suddenly turned on, illuminating their group. Larry froze, unsure of what to do. He could hear shouts and screams coming from the other side of the river, and he knew that they had been spotted.

As the humans on the other side opened fire, Larry watched in horror as several of the other zombies around him were hit. He felt a surge of anger and despair as he realized that they were all going to die.

But then, something unexpected happened.

A young woman attacked one of the humans on the other side of the river from behind. The other zombies around her quickly followed suit, swarming the humans and overwhelming them with their sheer numbers.

Larry hesitated for a moment, unsure of whether to join in the attack or hold back. But then he felt a surge of hunger, and he knew what he had to do. He joined the fray, tearing into the flesh of the human he had been eyeing from across the river.

As he ate, he could feel the adrenaline pumping through his veins.

He was alive, and he was strong.

He was a zombie, and he was hungry.

And nothing was going to stand in his way.

Scene 3

The group of survivors had been huddled together in a small makeshift shelter, their backs to the river as they scanned the opposite shore for any signs of movement. Suddenly, one of them caught sight of a group of figures shambling towards them, and they raised their rifles.

“Looks like we got company,” said Tom, the grizzled veteran of the group. “Get ready, everyone.”

The survivors held their breath as the zombies approached, their moans growing louder with each step. But the group was well-armed and well-trained, and they made quick work of the first wave of attackers.

“We can take ‘em!” shouted Sarah, a young woman with a fierce determination in her eyes. “We’re gonna make it out of here!”

The group felt a renewed sense of hope as they fought off the first wave of zombies, but their triumph was short-lived. Suddenly, they heard a noise behind them and turned to see another group of zombies pouring out of the woods.

“Oh, no,” whispered Maria, the youngest member of the group. “We’re surrounded.”

The survivors fought valiantly, but the sheer number of zombies was overwhelming. They were pushed back towards the river, their backs against the water as the zombies closed in.

“We can’t give up!” yelled Tom, his voice hoarse with exertion. “We have to keep fighting!”

But as the survivors looked into the eyes of the oncoming horde, they knew they were doomed. The zombies were too many, too strong, too hungry.

“We did our best,” said Sarah, tears streaming down her face. “We fought as hard as we could.”

The survivors locked arms, bracing for the final onslaught. But as the zombies closed in, something strange happened. One by one, the zombies began to slow down, their movements growing lethargic.

“What’s happening?” gasped Maria, her eyes widening in disbelief.

And then the survivors realized: the zombies had eaten all of their own. They had no more flesh to sustain them. The survivors watched in horror as the zombies collapsed to the ground, one by one, until there was nothing left but a silent, still mass of bodies.

The survivors stood in stunned silence for a few moments, unsure of what to do next. Then Tom spoke up, his voice quiet but determined.

“We have to keep going,” he said. “We have to find a way out of this city, no matter what it takes.”

And so the survivors pushed forward, through the decaying streets and over the rubble of collapsed buildings, always with the knowledge that the zombies were never far behind. But they pressed on, driven by a fierce determination to survive against all odds.
