Speed Up Task Switching

Context switching faster

I’ve worked hard to increase my efficiency, and I think the two keys are being able to task-switch quickly and being able to know what to do next. To improve on both, I have used a task tracker.

I list out tasks in a Numbers sheet, and I color code things to help them pop out. This sample below is actually a description of what I do.

Here is an actual sample for reference. The best part is that if you ever need to know what you worked on when, it’s all documented.

However, I would strongly advise against sharing it with your manager. I have found this takes the pressure off of me. If I knew my manager was reviewing it, I feel I would not use this to the best of its function.

This is a work journal of sorts, and like my personal journey, it is for me to express freely what I’m thinking and feeling. Only in doing that without the pressure of someone else possibly reading it, can the document be honest and useful for personal growth. I see this task tracker in the same category.

I hope this helps in your own task switching because for me, content switching can be dizzing.
